WhatsApp vs Email: Choosing the Right Alert Delivery Channel

Investography delivers alerts via WhatsApp or email, and the right choice depends on the alert type and your trading style. Here is a detailed breakdown to help you decide.

How Each Channel Delivers

Email delivery sends an alert notification to your registered email address through Investography's email service provider. Delivery is typically reliable but can take 1 to 5 minutes from the moment the alert condition is met. WhatsApp delivery uses Twilio to send a formatted message to your connected mobile number. For Premium users with 5-second alert checks, WhatsApp delivery reaches your device within seconds.

Scenarios Where Each Channel Wins

WhatsApp wins for time-critical rules: breakout alerts, stop-loss alerts, and volume spike alerts where acting within the same session matters. Email wins for notifications where time is not critical: RSI threshold alerts, near-52w alerts, and dividend-related conditions where you will act the next session regardless.

Use the Both option for your single most important alert rule — the one where missing the notification would have the highest cost. Both sends the alert via WhatsApp and email simultaneously, giving you redundancy if one channel has a delivery delay.

Managing Your WhatsApp Quota

WhatsApp notifications count against your monthly WhatsApp quota separately from your overall alert count. Pro accounts get 20 WhatsApp notifications per month. Premium gets 100. If you assign WhatsApp delivery to every alert rule, you may exhaust your WhatsApp quota before month-end. Assign WhatsApp selectively to your highest-priority rules and use email for the rest.
