How to Use the Investography Market Overview Page

The Investography Market Overview page puts the entire CSE trading session in one view. Here is what each panel shows and how to interpret the data for daily market research.

What Is on the Market Overview

The Market Overview page is your daily starting point for understanding CSE-wide activity. It aggregates index performance, top movers, sector snapshots, foreign investor flow, and market breadth into a single scrollable view. Instead of checking multiple pages or sources, everything relevant to the session's tone is here in one place.

Index Summary Panel

The top of the Market Overview shows the ASPI (All Share Price Index) and SL20 (S&P Sri Lanka 20) with their current values and daily changes. ASPI covers all listed stocks and gives the broadest market picture. SL20 tracks only the 20 most liquid large-cap stocks. Divergence between the two can indicate that the market is being driven by large-caps while smaller stocks move differently.

Top Movers Panel

Check the overlap between top movers and your watchlist every morning. If one of your watchlist stocks appears in the top movers before you have set an alert for that session, add one immediately from the stock detail page.

Foreign Flow Panel

The foreign flow panel shows net foreign buying or selling activity for the current session in LKR value. Sustained net foreign buying is generally a positive signal for market direction. Sustained foreign selling can indicate capital outflows. However, interpret foreign flow in context — post-dividend rotation (foreign investors selling after capturing a dividend) looks similar to genuine exit activity but means very different things.
