Connecting Portfolio to Calendar
Once your holdings are entered in the Portfolio page, the Market Calendar's Portfolio dividend filter becomes fully useful. Switch the calendar's dividend view to Portfolio and every ex-date for stocks you hold will appear as an orange indicator on the relevant day. This gives you a forward-looking dividend schedule without any manual research.
Calculating Dividend Yield on Your Holdings
Click any ex-date indicator on the Calendar to see the dividend detail panel. This shows the announced dividend amount per share in LKR. Divide this by your average cost per share from the Portfolio page to calculate your yield on cost for that payment. Compare this with the stock's current yield to see how your original entry timing has affected your effective return.
Planning Ahead for Tax and Cashflow
Use the Calendar in Portfolio filter mode to build a picture of which months will generate dividend income across your holdings. Scroll through the next three to six months to map out the payment timeline. This is useful for personal cashflow planning and for timing any planned reinvestments around incoming dividends.
Set a change_pct_below alert on each dividend holding for the 10 days before its ex-date. A sharp pre-ex-date drop may indicate the market is pricing in a cut or cancellation of the announced dividend. The alert gives you time to investigate before the ex-date rather than discovering the issue after.
After Dividends Are Paid
After a dividend is credited to your broker account, log a note in the Portfolio Transactions record for that holding if you are on Pro or Premium. Over multiple dividend cycles, this builds a clear picture of your total return from that stock including both price appreciation and income received.
