Setting Up a Price Above Alert on Investography

A price_above alert fires the moment a stock's price crosses above a level you specify. Here is how to configure one effectively for breakout and target-price monitoring.

What price_above Does

The price_above alert rule monitors a stock continuously during market hours. When the live price rises above your specified threshold, Investography triggers a notification to your chosen delivery channel. The alert fires once per crossing — it does not repeat until the price falls below the threshold and rises above it again.

Best Uses for price_above Alerts

Set your price_above threshold at a meaningful level, not an arbitrary round number. Resistance levels identified on the chart (a previous high, a moving average, a gap fill level) give the alert more significance than a round number that has no chart basis.

Managing Multiple price_above Rules

You can set multiple price_above rules on the same stock at different levels. For example, a first alert at a minor resistance level to signal the stock is gaining strength, and a second at a major resistance level to signal a full breakout. This creates a layered notification system from the same stock.
