Importing Your CSE Portfolio to Investography

If you have an existing list of CSE holdings, you can add them to Investography quickly rather than entering each stock one by one. Here is how the import process works.

Manual Entry for Small Portfolios

For portfolios with fewer than 10 holdings, the fastest approach is manual entry through the Add Holding flow on the Portfolio page. Each entry takes about 30 seconds — symbol, quantity, and average cost. For a 5-stock portfolio you can be set up in under 3 minutes.

CSV Import Option

For larger portfolios, Investography supports CSV import from the Portfolio page. The CSV format requires three columns: symbol (CSE ticker), quantity (shares held), and avg_cost (LKR per share). Export your holdings from your broker's platform, format the data to match the template, and upload from the Portfolio import screen.

Double-check CSE ticker symbols before importing. Some stocks have similar names but different symbols. The import will match your symbol against the Investography stock database — unrecognised symbols will be flagged for review before the import completes.

After Import

After import, all holdings appear immediately in your Portfolio page with live prices applied. Review the cost basis for each position and correct any that differ from your actual purchase price. Accuracy in cost basis directly affects the reliability of your P&L calculation.
