Full 2026 CSE Holiday Schedule
Why Holidays Matter for Your Strategy
A market closure breaks the normal rhythm of price discovery. The session immediately before a holiday often sees higher volatility as participants square positions. The session immediately after a holiday can see a catch-up move reflecting news that accumulated while the market was closed.
How Investography Handles Holidays
All holidays are pre-loaded into the Investography Calendar for 2026. Closed days are marked clearly with the holiday name so you never need to look them up separately. The alert engine also respects market hours — alerts only fire during the 9:20am to 2:40pm SLST window on active trading days.
Before a long holiday stretch (like the April Sinhala and Tamil New Year cluster), review your open alert rules. Consider whether any price targets might be hit in the first session after the break when catch-up moves are more common.
Planning Around Poya Days
The CSE observes every Poya (full moon) day as a public holiday. This results in one additional closure per month throughout the year. In months where Poya falls on a Friday or Monday, you can have a three or four day break. Check the Calendar at the start of each month to flag these extended closures early.
Consecutive Closures to Watch
April 2026 has a particularly dense cluster: Good Friday on the 10th, then the 13th and 14th for New Year. May has two consecutive days with Vesak Poya on the 12th and the day after on the 13th. Plan position sizing and stop-loss levels before these windows open.
