Why Single Alerts Miss Context
A price_above alert firing tells you the price crossed your level. It does not tell you whether volume confirmed the move, whether RSI is overbought, or whether the move came on market-wide momentum rather than stock-specific catalysts. Layering alert types gives you a richer picture of what is actually happening.

The Oversold Recovery Stack
For contrarian entries on beaten-down stocks: set rsi_below at 35 to catch when a stock enters oversold territory. Then set price_above at a level just above the recent low to detect when the bounce begins. The RSI alert tells you the stock is oversold; the price level alert tells you the recovery is starting. Together they bracket the entry zone.
Do not set more than three to four alert rules per stock. More than that creates noise and makes your alert list unwieldy. The goal is meaningful coverage, not exhaustive coverage.
The Risk Management Stack
For positions you are already holding: set price_below at your stop-loss level as the primary risk alert. Add change_pct_below at negative 4 percent as an early warning system before your stop is hit. For high-conviction holds, add near_52w_low as an additional trigger if the stock approaches technically significant support. Three layers of downside protection for one position.
Managing Alert Rule Limits
Free accounts are limited to 30 alerts per month. Starter allows 100. Pro allows 300. Premium allows 1000. When combining alert types per stock, plan your allocation. On a Starter plan with a 10-stock watchlist, you have 10 alerts per stock per month if distributed evenly. Be selective about which stocks get layered coverage and which get single alerts.
