How Investography Alert Checks Work During Market Hours

Understanding when and how often Investography checks your alert conditions helps you calibrate expectations for notification timing across different plan tiers.

Alert Check Frequency by Plan

Investography's alert engine continuously checks price conditions during the CSE trading session. The frequency depends on your plan tier: Premium users have their rules checked every 5 seconds. Pro users are checked every minute. Starter and Free users are checked at longer intervals using the 5-minute data refresh cycle.

Why Check Frequency Matters

A stock can cross a price level, trigger a meaningful intraday move, and partially retrace — all within a single session. If your alert check interval is 5 minutes and the move happens and reverses in 3 minutes, you may never receive the alert. At 5-second check intervals, the alert fires at the earliest possible moment and you have maximum time to assess and respond.

Market Hours for Alert Checks

Alert checks only run during CSE trading hours: 9:20am to 2:40pm SLST, Monday through Friday. Outside those hours, no checks occur regardless of plan tier. Rules set at levels very close to the previous close price may fire within the first few minutes of the market opening if the price opens near your threshold.

For Premium users running stop-loss alerts, the 5-second check interval provides the strongest protection against intraday breaches. A stop-loss alert at the 1-minute check rate can result in a 1-minute gap between breach and notification — meaningful on volatile CSE sessions.
